This week I had the opportunity to interview Sebalter, The participant of Switzerland in the Eurovision Song Contest. Let's see what brings this interesting guy...
1- Hello Sebalter, thank you very much for accepting this interview.
- You`re welcome! Thank you for your interest.
2- How does it feel to represent Switzerland at Eurovision?
- On one hand I feel positively overwhelmed and satisfied by a musical achievement I have been longing for long time. On the other hand there is a feeling of responsibility and serious commitment that is present: I am going to represent my country, and that is very important.
3- How long have you felt with the emotion to being on stage in Eurovision?
- Well, last summer I made a trip in the USA and that is when "Hunter Of Stars" took shape. Back in Switzerland, I recorded it, and in that very time subscriptions for the ESC were open. I felt ready and also felt that ESC could be a good place where to play my folk song and, being fond of challenges, I decided to participate.
4- What are your goals in Copenhagen?
- My goal is definitely the access to the European final.
5- What can offer you or your song on stage to convince the European public?
- The audience will hear music which is somehow different to the traditional Eurovision songs. I can therefore increase the diversity of the musical choice. I will try to convince the public by the positive vibe of the song, my musical skills, the energy and my way of making the stage my home.
6- Recently Switzerland has not been successful in Eurovision, Do you think can you change that story?
- I hope so!
7- Your song Hunter of Stars has something that draws public attention in your case "the whistle" Do you think that is what makes different your song?
- The whistling definitely makes the song a bit different, and also the violin, and the genuine folk mood, which is not tipical for the ESC.
8- What do you wish to the other participants this year?
- I wish them to enjoy this special experience and to take it as a beautiful moment in their lives, without putting too much pressure on themselves.
Thank you for accepting this interview, Greetings from EscDiaries.
Special thanks to:
- Sebalter
